Budget TV, set your expectations accordingly
The Dyanora 43″ Ultra HD LED TV (Model DV-LD43U4S) is one of the cheaper 43″ 4K TVs in the market. Of course, you get what you pay for – it is an average TV you can consider as your second TV (bedroom, for example) adequate for casual viewing. This is not your main TV. The product description exaggerates its capabilities. In reality,- Picture quality, while decent is not spectacular. Colors are off sometimes, and the viewing angle range is certainly not 178 degrees as claimed. It’s edge-lit, and you can see the backlight from the edges in dark scenes. It is supposed to be a 400 nits display, but the brightness doesn’t always look like that. The screen is glossy, and screen reflects room lighting (see image). The Android system allows for various picture adjustments and you have to tweak these to get the colors you want (and you may not always achieve this). Picture from the OTT services is generally better than from satellite set top box, and ok for casual viewing.- WiFi – The TV requires a strong WiFI signal. Its WiFi reception is not as good as a phone or laptop in the same room. This has ramifications on the ability of the TV to work well with OTT services like Netflix. Do not plan to put this TV in rooms where WiFI signal is not strong.- 4K – It is hard to see the difference between 4K and full HD (1080p) in this TV. The pictures look almost the same (you can run 4K videos from YouTube and set various resolutions and check). The 1080p picture is satisfactory, especially with HDR. But the question then is whether this TV should be bought for 4K. There are cheaper full HD 43″ TVs. 4K also requires a wifi connection with download speeds more than 25 Mbps, and this works only when the TV is close to the WiFI router. So, consider whether you really need to spend on 4K, especially this model.- Audio is the biggest disappointment in this TV. The product description claims 30W and “enveloping sound”, but the enclosed manual only mentions 14W. The sound is often muddied, and the voice quality is poor. Nowhere close to what’s claimed in the product description. Dialogs are sometimes hard to follow. The so-called “box speakers” sound thin and reproduce music poorly – do not expect any bass or sound clarity. I use an external sound bar when needed.- Connectivity: This is a plus point with the TV. It offers two-way blue-tooth, and can accommodate multiple BT-connected devices at the same time (like a BT headset and soundbar). It also has optical out, which is good for connecting devices like sound bars.- Software is generally responsive, and works without any hitches. The Android interface is minimalistic, but the play store doesn’t offer all the choices you find on a phone. Popular OTT services are all available.- Reliability – No issues observed in about two weeks, but this too short a time to tell.- Build – The build of this TV is average. It’s lightweight, all plastic. The legs are cheaply made, and screwing them in took some effort.- Service: The dyanora service team is readily reachable, but have poor follow-up. They still haven’t sent in the installation tech. Service is outsourced to a third party.Bottom line: This is a budget TV and acts like one. Audio quality is below average. 4K ultra-HD doesn’t provide any advantage in this TV – the UHD picture doesn’t look noticeably better than Full HD. Whether this is a general issue or specific to this TV is not clear. Full HD looks reasonable in this TV, but you may be able to buy a cheaper full HD 43″ TV. Overall, you may be better off spending on a full HD TV at this size with better audio and picture quality.
